Not the best room but pleasant and clean. Only used for a one night work stay. Lady on booking in was friendly and helpful, putting us at ease straight away. Food served and drinks available most of the day downstairs and a nice atmosphere.
Check in was friendly and quick. Room was really spacious and bathroom spotless with great hot shower. Great value- will definitely return
We had a family Christening for my Great Granddaughter Raven and the Hussar was perfect plenty of room for everyone and a lovely big play area for the young children to play which they did and enjoyed every minute of fun and plenty of seating for most. We all had a lovely time thank you.
The lady that welcomed us was friendly and polite. It is a shame breakfast is not included in the price, in fact, no breakfast option at all. Could do with more than just two coffee sachets. Don’t expect too much for the cost, it is basic room and just right for a cheap stay. Did notice the wardrobe in the room was falling apart, but as my wife and I had overnight bag, usage of the wardrobe was not necessary. The main entrance door lock was stiff in unlocking, it just needs WD40; wonder if they had thought of that? It is close to Margate centre and the sea front. I would stay again for an overnight stay, but do not think longer than two nights as breakfast is not included in the price, or option to have breakfast, even though the information sheet in the room indicated breakfast! That needs to be amended.
Two of us cycling around Kent and were looking for somewhere to stay near Margate. Found The Hussars on booking.com offering a fantastic rate when many other hotels were full. Bring your own shampoo and shower gel, though. The room has a double, twin, and a camping bed, as well as an open wardrobe space, TV, and enough sockets for our electronics. The toilet is separate from the bathroom, so it's ideal for families who need to get ready in the morning. The pub downstairs is lively but doesn't stay open late so no need to worry about noise at night. There are, however, road works going on so if you are planning on getting up late, that might be an issue. Dave and Michelle, the owners, are very friendly and helpful. They allowed us to keep our bikes in their lock up in the garden. Speaking of which, there is a lovely garden space which was perfect for long summer evenings. We walked to Westgate-on-sea, about a mile away, for breakfast, but there are some shops across the road to buy essentials or get a takeaway. If staying near the beach isn't a priority, then I would recommend The Hussars for an affordable stay in the Margate area.
